This chapter is dedicated to the presentation of basic concepts plasma diagnostics via spectroscopy techniques, including optical emission and absorption spectroscopy. The measurements temperature electron density are illustrated several examples transient atmospheric plasmas generated by electrical discharges, for which validity conditions limitations discussed.
